Seminar on Leprosy Awareness and Rehabilitation

Seminar on Leprosy Awareness and Rehabilitation

Organized by
United College of Physical Therapy

United College of Physical Therapy (UCPT) organized a seminar on Leprosy Awareness and Rehabilitation for its Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students on 6th August 2026.

The seminar was conducted by Mr. Daniel Kharamat from Mary Adelaide Leprosy Centre, who shared valuable knowledge and practical insights regarding leprosy, its clinical manifestations, prevention, management, and associated disabilities. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of physiotherapy and rehabilitation in preventing disability, maintaining functional independence, and improving the quality of life of individuals affected by leprosy.
The seminar provided DPT students with an opportunity to broaden their understanding of leprosy and the multidisciplinary approach required for its effective management. The interactive discussion also helped students appreciate the important role of physiotherapists in community-based rehabilitation and disability prevention.

UCPT appreciates Mr. Daniel Karamat and Mary Adelaide Leprosy Centre for their valuable contribution to the academic and professional development of its students. Such seminars reflect UCPT’s commitment to providing students with practical, evidence-informed learning experiences and meaningful exposure to community healthcare and rehabilitation services.
